Poor PC compatibility
It was impossible for us to obtain a perfect display when relaying a PC in HDMI to the LC-32D44E. We systematically lost the edges of images or they were resized. In fact, this TV didn’t give us access to a 1:1 mode which enables properly reproducing pixels sent by the graphic card. Finally, the best results were obtained in 1280x720, which is unfortunate, because reactivity is rather good.

This television is the 26 inch version of the 32 inch which we tested:  the Aquos LC-32D44E.

Characteristics, the panel and circuitry are identical and only brightness may vary slightly which minimally affects contrast. According to manufacturers (and our tests confirm), results from one diagonal size can easily be extrapolated to identical models of bigger or smaller sizes.

We did note, however, that current prices are similar between the two models and it’s hard to justify the purchase of the 26 inch.  Unless you find a good deal in this size, look more towards the 32 inch.

-

Deep black and high contrast (though dynamic)

-

Digital tuner isn’t HD compatible

-

Dynamic contrast impossible to deactivate

-

HDCP Blu-ray compatibility problem with our test PS3

-

Mediocre rescaling of SD sources

-

Poor support of 1366x768 coming from a PC in HDMI

Without being bad, the Aquos LC-26D44E has too many minor defects to compete with its many rivals. Even, its low price is too close to that of the 32 inch version (the LC-32D44E)
