On the Nikon D60
Naturally, this card’s slow speed at writing data held it back when we put it through our test on a Nikon D60 in burst mode.
When we took 30 shots in burst mode, there was a noticeable fall in performance from the eighth frame on, which gradually worsened over time.
If yours is a compact digital camera, though, then you will have less to worry about. We tested this card for video and shooting in burst mode on a Canon Ixus 860IS without any problems.

Verbatim has expanded its range of SD memory cards. It now includes two SD cards alongside larger Class 6 SDHC cards at 4, 8 and 16 GB. Having already tested the 4 GB SDHC card from this manufacturer, we were looking forward to seeing some good results with this card.
Disappointing write speeds
Since we tested the 4 GB version, though, the Verbatim cards have got slower at writing data. We first noticed this when we looked at the 16 GB card, and the 8 GB card is not much better. It manages only 6.1 MB/s when copying medium size files on to the card. That means half-filling the card will take around 11 minutes, even though smaller cards can move the same amount of data twice as quickly.
When it comes to reading data from the card, things are much better.
In fact, this Verbatim card is top of our list and could pump out data as fast as our card reader could take it at 17.3 MB/s.

Data transfer speeds (MB/s)

- Reading speeds
- Perfect for a digital compact
- Poor writing speeds
- Slows a reflex down

This card is perfect for a compact digital camera. It’s also incredibly fast for copying files onto a computer. Writing to it, though, is slow, and it couldn’t manage the 3 fps of our digital reflex.
