Love at first slide! I was however extremely stubborn to the idea of testing this mouse. It’s from an unknown brand, has a low profile, and is high priced. Once unpacked, the simple fact of taking it in my hand was a revelation and we discovered a new star. This mouse slides wonderfully, its driver is simple while being extremely practical and well conceived, the shape is ideal (for right-handers and the few who don’t have small hands), and the materials used in construction are very pleasant.
It’s also perfectly versatile.
• You might be thinking gamer mouse, and yes it does have the look, it’s imposing, and has the functions and characteristics (20G acceleration, 3200 dpi, etc.).
• Or graphic artist’s mouse: its sober design goes well with any PC or Mac (only PC drivers are included but they aren’t indispensable), precision is incomparable and truly impressive. Handling is immediate, natural and there is no adaptation time.
• Or an office mouse. Here again, it’s highly suitable due to the extremely comfortable handling which doesn’t pose a problem in hours of prolonged use. We usually do not have the habit of heaping on the praise like this (for any product) but here it’s exceptional and totally justified.
Forging ahead with the driver and options
On the top and behind the scroll wheel is a button that allows toggling between two resolutions :
High (by default 3200 dpi) and
Low (800 dpi). The first was too fast for our tastes and the second is no longer well adapted to current screens or gamer use. For us, a small detour in the driver enabled us to easily change the settings to a much more practical 1600 dpi / 400 dpi,
High this time being for everyday use and
Low when we need extreme precision. Note that an LCD underneath the mouse indicates the current setting.
As usual, button functions can be personalized. However, this time it is amazingly complete with the setting of shortcuts to automate the most common actions or even the most complex ones of your favorite games. And Ikari goes even further by offering the free downloading of profiles optimized for the most popular games.
Besides its unparalleled characteristics, the Laser Mouse shouldn’t be seen as a just a
100% gamer’s mouse. For graphic art it is excellent with immediate precision that is extremely appreciable. Going back to another model is very difficult even if you already have a good mouse.
One last impressive point was its silence. It slides almost without the slightest noise. The silence is broken only with the scroll wheel which is a bit noisy when turning away from the user.
