Infrared diodes
We wanted to see if the just diodes of this webcam were enough with a screen relayed to a central unit. The webcam is placed on an LCD and the user sits 50 cm from the monitor. In the end, we weren’t convinced of the effectiveness of these infrared diodes. With or without them we didn’t notice any difference because their range is too small. Otherwise, this was a good idea and we may just have to wait for the next generation.

The T'nB Moon Pix HD is a webcam equipped with a CMOS 1.3 megapixel sensor. It is therefore possible to take a photo or shoot videos with a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. Thanks to its base, it’s easily placed on any type of support such as a desktop, CRT or LCD monitor. It also has a face tracking function which enables the user to stay in the center of the screen when he or she moves.
There are two characteristics which stand out for this webcam. First, it has three infrared diodes on each side of the sensor theoretically giving us a good quality image in a dark room. Next, there is Plug'n Play. For basic use with a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, all you have to do is connect it to your computer. Otherwise, if you want to use all the functions offered, the installation of drivers will be necessary.
Image and sound quality
However, even with drivers installed quality is mediocre. This webcam has the tendency to overexpose images resulting in a loss of quality and unnatural colors. In a dark room, we see even less detail and the user is barely recognizable. However, at least there is no lack of fluidity.
The integrated micro is consistent with image quality. We had trouble recognizing our conversation partner’s voice and there was also parasite noise.

-
Mediocre sharpness at day and night

Overexposure problems

Infrared diodes aren’t strong enough

Whether it’s during the day or at night, image quality is mediocre. It’s better to opt for a webcam such as the Hercules Dualpix Exchange.
