In the new SE line from Shure, the first number in the name indicates the level of sound quality. The higher the number, the better the sound restitution is supposed to be. The second number indicates the quantity of audio drivers that equip the ear piece.
In the case of the SE310, we are supposed to have headphones that are superior to the SE210, but they also only have a single speaker. For this reason, we wonder how Shure went about improving sound quality. In this case, we learned there is a special conduit integrated to the body of the earphone which plays the role of subwoofer, therefore reinforcing lower frequencies.
In practice, and compared to the SE210, we sometimes noticed a slight improvement of the sound spectrum. However, this difference is sometimes hidden and the rest of the time it could be mistaken for its little brother’s...to such a point that we even confused them in listening tests. In the end, we honestly wonder if the extra 100 Euros is worth it for results that are more or less the same.
Note that the SE310 exists in white and black.
